Justin Sutherland

Justin Sutherland is the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Realize Medical, where he leads the company’s vision to redefine procedural planning through immersive 3D virtual reality technology. With a master’s and PhD in Medical Physics and over 15 years of clinical experience at The Ottawa Hospital, Justin brings deep expertise at the intersection of medical imaging, radiation oncology, and clinical workflow innovation. 

A member of the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine, Justin has dedicated his career to advancing how clinicians interact with complex imaging data. He is a co-author of the 2019 Journal of Digital Imaging Best Paper — a highly cited publication that helped shape early thinking around immersive medical visualization and image processing. 

Justin co-founded Realize Medical to translate research into real-world clinical impact, guiding the development of Elucis — a platform now empowering clinicians globally to better understand anatomy, collaborate more effectively, and plan with greater precision. His leadership continues to drive the adoption of virtual reality surgical planning as a new standard in modern healthcare.
