Tom Kaneb

Tom Kaneb is a seasoned entrepreneur, executive, and investor with more than 50 years of experience building, scaling, and investing in high-growth companies. As a Board Member of Realize Medical, he provides strategic guidance to support the company’s continued growth in immersive medical visualization and virtual reality procedural planning. 

He holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Queen’s and an MBA from Harvard. Tom served as President of Universal Terminals Inc., growing the family business into Ontario’s largest independent distributor of heating oil and industrial fuels with $80M in revenue prior to its successful sale. He has founded and co-founded multiple companies and has been a founding investor in more than 15 ventures. 

Tom has played a key role in scaling organizations including SigmaPoint Technologies, which grew into a leading contract manufacturer of complex electronics before its sale in 2022; Lorama Inc., a global specialty chemicals company operating in over 85 countries and MindCore a startup he helped grow into one of the three leading manufacturers of high voltage disconnect switches for utilities. His investment leadership spans private equity and venture capital through firms such as Palos Capital, Miralta Capital, Avrio Capital and Stormont Partners, alongside a growing focus in medical technology investments. 

A committed civic leader and philanthropist, Tom has supported numerous healthcare, education, and economic development initiatives, including the Cornwall Hospital, CHEO and the Ottawa Heart Institute.
